Tower School’s Woodworking Teacher to Give Presentation about Guitar Building at Peabody Essex Museum
Thursday, February 20th, from 6-9:00pm
Adam Zois, master luthier, and woodworking teacher at Tower School, will give a presentation on electric guitar construction at the P.E.M., in conjunction with the Céleste Boursier-Mougenot “From Hear to Ear” exhibit.  Mr. Zois’ presentation covers electric guitar construction and provides demonstrations with hand-tools used in the building process. Visitors will be invited to participate in a hands-on workstation with hand tools such as spoke shaves, planes, rasps and files on actual guitar body and neck blanks.
Mr. Zois, a member of the New England Luthiers Group, received his formal guitar design training while studying under master guitar builder, Thomas Knatt. He has been building guitars for 18 years, and teaching guitar design and construction for 13 years. His expertise is in hollow and semi-hollow body electric guitars.In addition to teaching guitar design and construction, Mr. Zois teaches woodworking skills to students in grades 1-8 at Tower School in Marblehead. He also builds a limited number of privately commissioned guitars each year.
